Apparently, Fred VanVleet is not a supporter of the NBA’s disciplinary insurance policies.
The league introduced Thursday that the Raptors guard, his teammate DeAndre’ Bembry and Lakers guard Talen Horton-Tucker have every been suspended one sport with out pay for leaving their bench areas throughout Tuesday evening’s sport between Toronto and Los Angeles. Moreover, Raptors ahead OG Anunoby ($30,000) and Lakers huge man Montrezl Harrell ($20,000) have been hit with fines for his or her roles in an on-court altercation.
Late within the first quarter of that contest, Lakers guard Dennis Schroder fouled Anunoby and acquired tousled with him after the whistle. Anunoby grabbed Schroder by the leg and tossed him onto the bottom, which triggered Harrell and a bunch of different gamers to leap into the fray. After a prolonged assessment of the play, Anunoby and Harrell have been each ejected.
Upon studying that he had obtained a suspension, VanVleet provided a brief response on Twitter: “Lol.”
It could appear odd that VanVleet, Bembry and Horton-Tucker have been suspended as a result of they’d the least quantity of direct involvement within the fracas. Sadly for these guys, there may be not a ton of grey space relating to leaving the bench, even when a participant is attempting to deescalate the scenario.
Hey, if nothing else, VanVleet can discover consolation in realizing it might have been worse. Think about if he had performed this throughout a giant playoff sequence! (So sorry, Suns fans.)
